Do I Need a 4K Monitor for 4k Cameras
The quick answer is NO. However, to see 4k resolution which comes in at 3840 x 2160 pixels which 4K security cameras are projecting and recording its best to have a 4k monitor with a capable computer graphics card. However, its not necessary to have a 4k monitor to see the footage of a 4k security camera, you would instead be seeing the footage in plain HD. Without a 4K monitor you'll still be able to see everything, the only difference is when you enlarge images they'll be a little distorted the bigger you make them. But when you look at that same exact footage on a 4K monitor its a whole lot clearer and you don't lose any resolution when enlarging the images. Keep in mind that having a network video recorder (NVR) at home storing the recorded footage, that footage will be in 4K resolution regardless of what kind of monitor you have as long as your cameras are 4K. With a minimum of 8 MP (mega pixels) in 4K that footage will be very clear as its being recorded onto the NVR.
The important thing to remember is as long as you have 4K cameras with a minimum of 8 mega pixels and they record a crime being committed, that 4K footage can be viewed on a computer and monitor capable of seeing the crystal clear details of 4K resolution. Most police departments have the latest technology such as computers with 4K resolution capable graphics cards and 4K monitors for investigating crimes on camera. Being able to provide 4K footage to law enforcement is the key to them being able to help you when a crime is committed against you on your property.
We recommend to our customers to keep cost low you just need security cameras in 4k 8MP hooked up to any computer and monitor and worry about upgrading your computer and monitor later if you want to. The only benefit to upgrading to a newer computer with a 4K monitor is going to be if you want to see everything the camera is producing in 4K from your computer. The footage is always going to be in 4K as long as you have 4K 8 MP cameras with a capable NVR which we can provide. Another option you have would be to get a 4K monitor and connect it directly to the NVR to provide crystal clear live footage from your cameras. The NVR we install will come with a wireless mouse so you can use the NVR instead of a computer to watch and monitor the 4K footage in true 4K resolution.
The beauty of this type set up is you still have the ability to watch footage on your older computer and monitor as well as a smart phone but you'll still have a stand alone 4K monitor that's hooked directly to your NVR. We know, it sounds complicated, but that's where our expertise comes in handy. We can get you set up and secure and show you how it all works. Don't worry, its an easy system to use as long as you know how to use a computer mouse or a smart phone.
