Which is Best - WIFI Or Wired 4K Cameras

Although wireless WIFI cameras are popular, its clear the resolution they provide is not. To get a crisp clear picture of what's happening and who's involved, you need a hard wired 4K camera surveillance system for your Los Angeles home that provides a minimum of 8 to 12 mega pixels in 4K which can focus on what's important and transmit that video across cable to a hard drive for reliable recording and playback.

Many brands of WIFI cameras while easy, inexpensive and convenient to set up, have a resolution of 1080p in HD (High Definition). That's way less picture clarity than a 4K 8MP wired camera produces.

4K 8MP is the GOLD standard in security cameras today (year 2023) but they do require a suitable data cable to transfer the large files that make up crystal clear 4K pictures and video. The difference in clarity is like night and day. Also If your ethernet cables are older than 2015, you're simply not getting the speeds you're likely paying for. We can replace all of your ethernet cables cut to any length you need as an added bonus of designing a surveillance system you can count on.

WIFI cameras transmit what they see through the air via your WIFI signal losing much of their HD resolution. The intricate parts which make up some WIFI cameras just aren't good at projecting a distant crisp detailed view, making them OK for inside a house or on a doorbell where people are only a few feet away.

When you enlarge a picture that a WIFI 1080p HD camera captured, its hard to identify faces or license plates more than a few feet away because things can get very blurry.

1080p HD WIFI cameras show you a blurry human came by, that's all.

If you've used WIFI cameras in the past, you may have noticed how people can simply vanish from a video and even reappear like magic, that's because WIFI drops in and out.

Wired 4K cameras don't do that because they are connected to ethernet cable which provides constant power to the camera and a wired avenue for the video to travel to where its needed. Wired 4K cameras project a crisp clear view and it's possible to see detail as far as 50 feet away. WIFI cameras will never accomplish that.

Other downsides to using wireless WIFI cameras. Many WIFI cameras use batteries to power them and the length of time those batteries last depends on a few factors. The higher the resolution setting, the more battery juice is used up. The more the cameras motion detection turns it on, the faster the battery wears out.

If the cameras are mounted in a high place, then you have to use a ladder to change or charge the battery. Doing so risks injury and if you're out of town when the battery quits your camera shuts off. When your internet is down, so is your WIFI camera. However, a wired 4K security camera still works when internet is down provided the electricity is on.

Making the right choice in security camera options have a lot of different things to consider but the bottom line is, when someone commits a crime on your property, its always best if you can provide footage that identifies who did it. You may not know their name but you'll document exactly what they look like, and without that, you have no recourse of action and the police cannot help you.

WIFI Cameras Best Use

Indoors and Doorbells

Areas we'd use WIFI cams are inside a home or garage as long as the home is equipped with a strong Wifi signal. Subjects must be less than 10 feet away for a detailed view and you'd want to use a minimum of 2K 5MP.

We can install video doorbells that are compatible with any of our 4K systems. The doorbell camera provides resolution of 2K at 5MP and there are two options: WIFI or Wired
